Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested for Cocaine; Popular Caterer Stiffed with Fake Check

Popular caterer stiffed with fake check

An employee at reported to Troy Police that a woman had ordered $1,180.33 in food on June 9, which she had delivered to a home. The food was paid for with a business check that was later found to be fraudulent.

Hit-and-run driver arrested for cocaine possession

Troy officers responded to a report of a hit and run on the Rochester Road exit ramp from Interstate 75 Friday evening. According to a witness, a pickup truck had hit another vehicle and then fled the scene.

The witness followed the truck long enough to get a license plate, and Troy officers soon located and stopped the vehicle, which was driving across two lanes.

The driver told police he hit the other driver because he was texting and driving. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a small plastic bag with white residue that field tested positive for crack cocaine, according to a Troy Police media release.

The man was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, possession of crack cocaine, driving while license suspended, and leaving the scene of an accident. Nobody was injured in the hit-and-run crash.

Teens arrested for marijuana, alcohol possession

After stopping a car for a routine traffic violation, Troy officers found a clear plastic botle containing marijuana, a half-empty bottle of tequila and 24 cold beers in the car. Officers cited a 17-year-old Madison heights male for possession of marijuana and minor in possession of alcohol. An 18-year-old Madison Heights man also in the vehicle was cited for minor in possession of alcohol.

16-year-old arrested for drinking and driving

A Troy officer stopped a vehicle near Big Beaver and John R just after midnight Sunday morning after he observed the vehicle weaving in and out of its lane. The 16-year-old Sterling Heights girl had bloodshot and glassy eyes and smelled of intoxicants, according to a Troy Police media release.

The driver, who said she was on her way home from a graduation party held at a Troy home, failed field sobriety tests. She was charged with zero tolerance – blood alcohol content between .02 percent and .07 percent.

Drunken drivers arrested in Troy

Several drivers were arrested in the past few days for operating while intoxicated, including:

  • A 47-year-old Auburn Hills man, who was stopped Friday night near Interstate 75 and Livernois after an officer saw him swerve into the next lane several times. The man failed sobriety tests and was arrested. His preliminary breath test results were 0.15 percent – nearly twice the legal limit.
  • A 30-year-old Lauderhill, FL man, who was stopped near Interstate 75 and Big Beaver Road early Sunday morning after an officer saw the man weaving and repeatedly crossing line markers. The man smelled of intoxicants, had extremely bloodshot and glassy eyes and slurred speech. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested; blood tests are pending.
  • A 45-year-old Troy man, who was questioned by police after he pulled into a business parking lot near Charrington and Rochester early Saturday morning. The man and his fellow passenger said they had pulled into the parking lot because they had to urinate, according to a Troy Police media release. The man was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated 2nd offense and driving while license suspended. He also had an outstanding warrant out of another jurisdiction related to a previous drunken driving conviction. Blood test results are pending.
  • A 32-year-old Pontiac woman, who was pulled over near Interstate 75 and 14 Mile early Monday morning after an officer noticed she was unable to maintain her lane and was drifting partially onto the shoulder. The driver smelled of intoxicants, had bloodshot and glassy eyes and poor balance. The woman failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Her preliminary breath test results were .10 percent; the woman also has two outstanding warrants out of other jurisdictions.
