Ridgedale Players Present 'Steel Magnolias' and More this Weekend

1. Ridgedale Players presents STEEL MAGNOLIAS

  • When: Friday, September 6, 2013, 8:00 PM
  • Where: 205 West Long Lake Rd., Troy
  • What: Ridgedale Players presents Steel Magnolias, Sept. 6-22. The action is set in Truvy's beauty salon, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done.  The play makes the characters truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8:00 p.m. Sunday performances at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students. Call 248-988-7049 or visit ridgedaleplayers.com for tickets. 

2. Dog Water Palooza “Dog Only Swim”

  • When: Saturday, September 7, 2013, 10:00 AM
  • Where: 3425 Civic Center Dr., Troy, MI
  • What: All are invited to bring their furry friend in for a 45 minute dog only swim based on dog’s weight. Dogs must be 6 months old with a current dog license to participate. Registration is required at the Troy Community Center. Fee: Resident $8 /NR $10.

3. 9/11 Blood Drive: Muslims for Life

  • When: Friday, September 6, 2013, 2:00 PM
  • Where: 1730 W. Auburn Rd., Rochester Hills, MI
  • What: On the 12th year anniversary of 9/11, in remembrance of the lives lost on that day, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA has launched a nationwide "Muslims for Life" campaign across its 71 chapters in about 50 cities across the nation to collect 11,000 units of blood and help save up to 33,000 lives. Register online at redcrossblood.org.
