Suspect Charged With Stealing $5K From Home Depot
A Chicago man is accused of taking more than $5,000 worth of items from Home Depot.

TROY, MI — A 22-year-old Chicago man was recently arrested and charged with stealing more than $5,000 worth of items from Home Depot at 1177 Coolidge Highway. A Troy officer saw the man carry an empty bag into the store at about 3 p.m. on Oct. 12 and return minutes later with it full of merchandise, according to police reports.
After emptying the bag into a 2005 Dodge Caravan, the Chicago man went back into the Home Depot and came out again a few minutes later with a bag full of items, reports said. He then went to Front Porch Quilts in the 1700 block of Gratiot Avenue and was confronted by police.

Reports said he denied driving the Dodge and refused to give the officer his driver’s license. Police then arrested him and found $5,234.73 worth of allegedly stolen merchandise from Home Depot.
The Chicago man was charged with Receiving and Concealing Stolen property, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, and No Operator’s License on Person.
