Education: Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning (MSU, 1983).
Major Accomplishment: Developed a three-year budget for the Economic and Community Develop Division of the City of Troy.
What experience would you bring to Troy?: "I work for the Troy City Manager's office. This experience gives me the unique opportunity to fully understand all of the issues and challenges that Troy must address. By working for the City of Troy, I work with municipal professionals that are ethical and creative. These professionals are highly regarded in their field and have developed solutions to provide high quality services with a reduction in staff, pay and revenue. What I have learned is that the professionals sill succeed because of the leadership from the City Manager. I have spent my career grooming myself to become a leader, such as the Troy City Manager."
Why are you interested in this position?: "As the Director of Economic and Community Development for the City of Troy, (I) have participated in the restructuring to meet a falling revenue line: I believe I am one of the most qualified candidates. Further, I see this as a progression towards fostering my leadership role as a municipal professional in the State of Michigan."
How would you handle Troy's divisive political climate?: "I work in this environment every day for the City of Troy for the past 12 years. First, the City Manger and staff must treat all elected officials equally. In other words, provide equal access to the City Manager and distribution of information equally to all City Council members. Second, the City Manager must be apolitical. Third, the City Manager and staff must be ethical in all aspects in running the day to day operations of the City."
