Troy Fire Department Helps Local Boy Fulfill Wish

The Troy Fire Department sent an engine and crew to a Troy boy's home as part of a special Make-A-Wish.

TROY, MI — Parker Schueller's wish came true with a little help from the Troy Fire Department.

Parker was born with several rare diseases that limit his mobility and keep him in a wheelchair. So one challenge Parker faces on an everyday basis is getting enough exercise. The Make-A-Wish foundation gave Parker a giant swim spa so he can swim and exercise in an unrestricted environment.

There just was a hiccup. The spa was a 1,700 gallon unit and a simple backyard hose wasn't going to come close to filling it. So, the Make-A-Wish foundation teamed up with the Troy Fire Department for back-up. And they sure delivered! The Troy Fire Department sent an engine and crew to Parker's home. Firefighters connected hoses to a hydrant and filled the 1700 gallon unit.
