Troy Fire Department Open House, Blessing of Animals Service and More

1. Troy Fire Department Open House

  • When: Sunday, Oct. 6, 1-4 p.m.
  • Where: All six Troy Fire Department stations
  • What: This year's fire prevention week theme is "prevent kitchen fires." On Sunday, you'll be able to practice in-home fire safety, see an antique fire truck, a piece of the World Trade Center, and Sparky, the fire dog. Refreshments and drawing for prizes at each fire station will be available. Check the PDF attached to this article for a station-by-station breakdown of what is offered.

2. Blessing of Animals Service

  • When: Sunday, Oct. 6, 1 p.m.
  • Where: Northminster Presbyterian Church (3633 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy)
  • What: Northminster Presbyterian Church and Central Woodward Christian Church present this short services featuring music in the spirit of the day, refreshments for all and Troy Police K-9 Unit Demonstration. Animals of all species and people of all religions are welcome. Please keep pets on leash or in a carrier.

3. Junior Actors of Ridgedale Players Audition

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 5, 2 p.m.
  • Where: Ridgedale Players Theatre (205 W. Long Lake Rd., Troy)
  • What: Auditions will take place for the play, "Good Grief, Charlie Brown, It's Christmas," which finds the Peanuts characters overwhelmed by the commercialism of the holiday season and their struggle to learn the real meaning of Christmas. Auditions are for youth ages 8-18 (high school only). Shows will be held Dec. 7-8. Please be prepared to read and sing a holiday carol in groups. Bring a school/headshot picture and a list of any conflicts that might interfere with rehearsals. 

4. C. Wonder Opening

  • When: Friday, Oct. 4, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Where: C. Wonder Somerset Collection South (2800 W. Big Beaver Rd., second level, Troy)
  • What: C. Wonder offers C. Wonder offers women's clothing, footwear, jewelry and accessories; housewares and home decor, personal electronics and more. This weekend's opening is filled with dancing, prizes and surprises.
