Troy Library Receives Library of Congress Donation

From the Office of the Congressman: On Tuesday, in celebration of National Library Week, U.S. Representative Dave Trott, a Troy Republican serving Michigan's 11th district, presented a donation of books to the Troy Public Library, obtained through the U.S. Library of Congress' Surplus Book Program. Rep. Trott presented fiction, non-fiction, children's, and reference/education books to add to the library's collection.

"National Library Week is a celebration of the vast intellectual and creative contributions of our communities' libraries and all those who serve there, and I can think of no better place to celebrate this week than at one of the educational epicenters of our community - the Troy Public Library," said Rep. Trott after his visit. "Troy Public Library prides itself on transforming minds and promoting literacy, and is an unwavering influence in providing cultural enrichment and fostering diverse ideas throughout our community."

National Library Week is a celebration of the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and is a time to promote the wealth of resources our libraries throughout Southeast Michigan have to offer.

The Library of Congress Surplus Book Program allows Members of Congress to select materials from the Library of Congress' collection that are not needed for the Library's own uses and donate them to libraries in their communities. The guiding principle of the program is to build library collections throughout the nation.
