Troy Police Department Promotes Two Employees to Officer Rank

The Troy Police Department announced the promotion of two departmental employees to the rank of Police Officer. Joshua Bowers and Michael Grosso, both former civilian employees, recently graduated from the police academy and were sworn in as police officers on Dec 14th.
Before his swearing-in, Officer Grosso worked as a police service aide in the Troy Police Department’s dispatch center for three years. A graduate of Macomb Community College, he received the Top Academic Award for his scholastic achievements at the Macomb Police Academy.
Also a former police service aide, Officer Bowers worked in the Troy Police lockup facility for a year. Officer Bowers holds a BS in Homeland Security, and is an Army veteran who achieved the rank of captain before his discharge. In the Army, Officer Bowers specialized in explosive ordnance disposal, learning skills that he will bring to his new role with the Troy Police. Officer Bowers was the salutatorian of his police academy class, and was awarded the MCOLES Outstanding Performance Award for academic achievements in the Macomb Police Academy.
