Troy Police Issue Offer Advice For Managing Coyotes
Coyotes Remain A Nuisance In Area Suburbs

In response to a spate of recent calls about coyotes in residential areas, the Troy Police Department issued a statement containing advice for homeowners. Coyotes have been a noted problem in the Metro Detroit suburbs in recent years, with many homeowners reporting sightings of the animals digging in trash or foraging in yards for food.
Troy Police advise anyone who needs to remove coyotes “obtain services from any licensed nuisance animal control company. A list of licensed companies can be found at www.michigan.gov/wildlife. The typical cost associated with this service ranges from $300 to $750.”
Coyotes usually fear people and bigger pets, but have been known to attack or kill cats and smaller dogs. Keeping close watch on pets, never leaving them unsupervised in a yard, and keeping pet food out of yards in inside homes also helps keep pets safe.
