Troy Schools Consider Early Childhood Center
The Troy School District is considering building an early childhood center, paid in part by the recent sale of property.
TROY, MI — Troy Public Schools is considering building an early childhood education center. Funds from the recent sale of two pieces of property, which fetched $8.5 million, would be used to help pay for Troy’s new early childhood center. The district is considering using other land it currently owns at Livernois Road and Hart Street, the Oakland Press reported.

“Through our learning about what makes a world class learning organization/school district, it became clear that we need to invest in the learning of our youngest students, the way that other states and countries do,” Birmingham said in an email.
“The district is also looking at deeding most of the 83 acres in Section 1, in the area of Square Lake and John R roads, to a land conservancy because it contains wetlands and some rare lake prairie landforms, Birmingham said. The district would sell a portion of Section 1 in part to seed the conservancy.”
