Woman Charged With Child Endangerment After Traffic Stop

Troy Police arrested a Royal Oak woman for allegedly driving under the influence and endangering her 10-month old daughter.

TROY, MI — A 25-year-old Royal Oak woman was arrested Sunday on charges of Child Endangerment and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Narcotics pending laboratory results after a traffic stop at the Citgo Gasoline Station on Livernois in Troy. Officers stopped the woman, who was driving a 2002 Mercury Sable, after she drove erratically, according to police reports.

Officers spoke with the woman and noted that she was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred. After searching the Royal Oak woman’s car, officers found a pill bottle that contained Xanax and Norcos. Officers then asked her to perform several field sobriety tests, which she performed poorly, reports said.

The woman was taken into custody at about 6 p.m. on Sunday. Her 10-month-old daughter was in the back seat of the vehicle.

The man, who was described as a black male between the ages of 20-30-years old and about 300 pounds, was not satisfied with the service he received and called the customer service line inside the store. He then began to yell obscenities into the phone and was asked to leave the store.

A Sprint employee then attempted to call police, but the man slapped his hand and knocked the phone to the floor. Troy Police reports said then fled out of the store, leaving in a gray newer model Lincoln Continental. The vehicle was last seen headed southbound on Crooks Road at a high rate of speed.
