The Student Council at Sheiko Elementary will be helping students half-way around the world this week!
The school is having a school-supplies drive for a Cape Town school more than 8000 miles away in South Africa. The Sheiko families will be generously donating much needed school items until February 8th for the children at the Philani Educare Center in Khayelitsha Township. Many families who use the Philani schools in the Cape Town area live on less than $2 a day. The students desperately need items as simple as pencils and markers, and as elaborate as dress-up clothing and toys.
If any West Bloomfield community members would like to support the drive, please go to philanifundusa.org to donate monetary funds. They can also contact pencils4philani@hotmail.com for a detailed list of needed items and a representative will pick up any donations of school supplies. Please do not donate any items to the school unless you are a Sheiko family. Thank you for your generosity!
