Children’s Miracle Network awards $1.4 Million to Corewell Health Children’s

Funds benefit pediatric health programs at Corewell Health Children's locations across Metro Detroit

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) has awarded Corewell Health Children’s more than $1.4 million in grants to support pediatric programs at Corewell Health locations for fall/winter 2025.

Corewell Health Children’s and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals have partnered since 1988 to raise funds to renew, introduce and enhance pediatric programs at Corewell Health locations in Southeast Michigan. Corporate partners of CMNH reach out to their employees and customers through retail promotions, gathering donations one dollar at a time. Major CMNH corporate partners include Speedway, Costco, Walmart and Sam’s Club, Rite Aid, Ace Hardware, RE/MAX, Panda Express, Dairy Queen, and Marriott International.

“We are very fortunate to be the only Children’s Miracle Network partner in Southeast Michigan,” said Matthew Denenberg, M.D., chief, pediatrics, Corewell Health in Southeast Michigan. “This partnership has raised more than $90 million since it was formed. As a nonprofit entity, the CMNH grants are crucial to ensure we have the most up-to-date specialized equipment, staffing and services to serve our youngest patients and their families. We are grateful for this relationship and for the generosity of those in our communities”

Corewell Health pediatric nurses, physicians and clinical leaders from all eight Southeast Michigan hospitals (Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, Trenton, Taylor, Troy and Wayne), as well as the Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital Care Center, Center for Exceptional Families and other outpatient sites, request grant funding from Corewell Health Children’s/CMNH to support new or existing pediatric initiatives.

Recent grants are assisting 50 programs with infant-specific equipment, community safety programs (bike, car seat, Halloween, injury prevention) special education for clinical staff and patient families, children’s community safety, playroom supplies, patient family financial support, physical therapy tools and much more.

Of special note this funding cycle is the support of two initiatives: Leadcare II Testing Machines and

Pediatric Readiness Training.

Children aged 12 and 24 months are now required to have their lead levels tested. The Leadcare II Testing Machines offer minimally invasive testing for kids at clinics with immediate results. If high lead levels are found during their scheduled visit, families are given lead packets that describe the next steps to be taken in the home. They will also receive information for further testing for the child. This is imperative for early detection and to quickly implement any interventions that may be needed to help prevent long-term effects of lead poisoning.

The National Pediatric Readiness Project (NPRP) is a national initiative focused on ensuring all U.S. emergency departments are equipped to provide effective emergency care to children. At Corewell Health Children’s, the funding of the Pediatric Readiness Training program allows participation in the initiative and encourages assessment of administration, staffing, policies, safety and equipment to verify that the system has the ability to meet the immediate needs of an ill or injured child during times of crisis.

Corewell Health Children’s is the only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Southeast Michigan. All donations made locally, stay local and support more than 200,000 children locally.
