Man Attacks Oakland County Gym Staff, Leads Officers On Chase: Police

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — A man was arrested Wednesday after he attacked staff at an Oakland County gym and then led officers on a chase, according to police.
The incident happened at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Planet Fitness on Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield, according to police.
A 911 caller told dispatchers the man was punching gym staff and charging at them with a metal object, according to police.

When officers arrived at the gym, they found the man in his vehicle in the parking lot, according to police.
He then tried to run over an officer and struck several police cars as he sped out of the parking lot, according to police.

Officers chased the vehicle onto the roadway and into a nearby subdivision, according to police.
The man eventually crashed into multiple police cars again, bringing his car to a stop and ending the chase, according to police.
Officers arrested the man after a brief struggle, according to police.
