Date Selected for Closing of St. Stan's in Wyandotte
St. Stanislaus Kostka and Our Lady of Mount Carmel are slated for merger, which will create a new parish.

A new parish is set to emerge from the merging of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Wyandotte.
The official closing date of the St. Stanislaus building is Aug. 1. On this date, St. Stanislaus parishioners were asked to begin using the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish under a newly combined parish called the Our Lady of the Scapular Parish.
The new pastor of the Our Lady of the Scapular is Father Mark Borowski.
Father Walter Ptak of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel said the merger was not an easy decision to make in a letter sent to his parishioners.
The newly formed parish will have a combined debt from both parishes of about $1.4 million payable to the Archdiocese of Detroit and the Michigan Catholic Conference.
