Outdoor Performances of Shakespeare Coming to Wyandotte

Shakespeare In The Park; Scenes, Sonnets, and Soliloquies will feature 12 actors from the ATK Theater Project stepping in and out of multiple roles.

William Shakespeare's plays have been performed all over the world, but never from the corner of First and Elm streets in Wyandotte.

The ATK Theater Project is bringing several of Shakespeare's most recognized works including "Romeo and Juliet" and "Taming of the Shrew" to the site of the Wyandotte Farmers Market with Shakespeare In The Park; Scenes, Sonnets, and Soliloquies.

Inspired by Shakespeare in the Park performances in Central Park in New York, NY, AKT Artistic Director Angie Kane Ferrante decided it was time to bring Shakespeare outdoors in Wyandotte, according to a ATK Theater Project release.

"Being the first summer for this new venture, instead of producing only one of his (Shakespeare's) plays, the company will present scenes from multiple Shakespeare works; giving a sample of one story after another," Ferrante said in the release.

Ferrante said audiences are welcome to stay for an entire free performance, or come and go as they please.
