- Bill LaBeau why??
In the absence of excessive rain and snow melt in the Wyandotte and Riverview area, some readers are coming to their own conclusions for the flooding that was as deep as eight inches Monday.
One reader jokingly blamed "aliens" for the flooding, but William Bantom, deputy director of road maintenance for Wayne County, said that answer is not likely.

"If it's not rain and it's not melting snow, then the water has to be coming from a different source," Bantom said.
Bantom added that the area where flooding is occurring is, historically, not an area where flooding has been known to occur.
Bantom urges anyone who sees any flooding in the described area to call the Wayne County Roads Division's 24-hour alert line 1-888-762-3273. Calls are taken at all hours of the day and night, each day of the week.
"We really need to see it in real time conditions to try to track back and see where the water is coming from," he said.
