Former College Baseball Champ Passes Away at 82

Edina resident Darrell "Shorty" Cochran passed away Aug. 6 at the age of 82.

According to his obituary on Legacy.com, Cochran was a 1949 graduate of Rochester High School, an all-around athlete at the University of Minnesota and a member of the 1956 baseball national champions.

A memorial for Cochran will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Wasburn McReavy's Edina Chapel, 5000 W. 50th St. A visitation will take place one hour before the service.
