15-Hour Standoff Ends With Hostage Free, Shooter Injured In Corcoran

The armed person who was holding the hostage suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to reports.

CORCORAN, MN — A more than 15-hour barricade in Corcoran ended with a person in custody and suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to reports.

Police responded shortly after noon Wednesday to the 9200 block of Cherry Lane where they learned a hostage was being held inside a building by an armed person, FOX 9 reported.

The hostage was released after hours of negotiations but the armed person then ceased communication with police, according to the outlet.

The person eventually exited the building with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot injury just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday, KSTP reported, adding the person was taken to a hospital for treatment.
