50 Sticks Of Suspected Dynamite Found In Twin Cities Garage

Authorities evacuated part of a Twin Cities neighborhood before the Minneapolis Bomb Squad cleared the scene.

MEDINA, MN — Authorities evacuated part of a Medina neighborhood Thursday after a resident reported finding what appeared to be a container of dynamite while cleaning out an old garage.

According to the Medina Police Department, officers were called just after 11:30 a.m. to the 4600 block of Mohawk Drive. The container appeared to hold about 50 sticks of suspected dynamite.

Out of caution, police evacuated the immediate area until the Minneapolis Bomb Squad arrived. The bomb squad removed the items and cleared the scene.

"There is no danger to the public," officials said in a statement. Police and fire crews thanked residents for their cooperation.
