Maple Grove Baseball Team Finishes 4th At State Tournament
The Crimson finished the 2022 season with a 20-6 record after going 1-2 in the state tournament, according to the MSHSL.
MAPLE GROVE, MN — The Maple Grove High school baseball team was only a few outs away from playing in Friday night’s Class AAAA state title game but finished the tournament in fourth place.
Maple Grove took down St. Louis Park 5-2 on Tuesday at CHS Field in St. Paul to reach the semifinal round, where the team lost 7-5 to Farmington across two days.
The Crimson jumped out to an early 5-0 lead over Farmington on Thursday, after the game was postponed Wednesday due to rain and lightning while it was still scoreless in the second inning.

Farmington scored three times in the fourth inning to cut into Maple Grove’s lead before a grand slam in the sixth inning put Farmington ahead, according to the Minnesota State High School League.

The grand slam by No. 9 batter Luke Walton give Farmington team a 7-5 lead, a lead that Maple Grove could not erase.
The Crimson’s semifinal loss to Farmington dropped the team into the third-place game against Chanhassen on Thursday evening at CHS Field, where they lost 6-3. Maple Grove held a 3-2 lead at the start of the fifth inning but fell behind after three Chanhassen players scored on two singles, according to the MSHSL.
Maple Grove finished the 2022 season with a 20-6 record, the MSHSL said.
