Maple Grove Girls Golf Team Finishes 2nd At State Tournament

MAPLE GROVE, MN — The Maple Grove High School girls golf team earned its second-straight second-place finish at the state tournament last week.
Alexandria Area successfully defended its 2021 Class AAA crown, posting a score of 628 across two rounds of play, according to the Minnesota State High School League. The Cardinals won the 2021 title with a score of 622 strokes.

Amelia Morton and McKenna Hogan earned the highest-placed finishes among Crimson golfers, tying for 20th with scores of 159 strokes each, MSHSL statistics show.

Blaine senior Kathryn VanArragon won the 2022 Class AAA girls golf individual state title, while Simley sisters Isabella and Reese McCauley finished in second and third, respectively.
Maple Grove High School girls golf team at the 2022 state tournament:
- Amelia Morton — 159 strokes — tied for 20th
- McKenna Hogan — 159 strokes — tied for 20th
- Julia Contreras — 162 strokes — 26th
- Payton Anderson — 164 strokes — tied for 30th
- Maria Contreras — 173 strokes — tied for 50th
- Carly Hamman — 175 strokes — tied for 54th
