Maple Grove Girls Hockey Team To Play In State Quarterfinal

The Crimson face off against Gentry Academy in the Class AA state quarterfinal at 8 p.m. Thursday.

MAPLE GROVE, MN — The Maple Grove High School girls hockey team will continue its bid for a state title Thursday with a game against Gentry Academy.

The Crimson, who beat Centennial 4-2 to win the Section 5AA title, face off against Gentry Academy in the Class AA quarterfinal at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Junior Stella Retrum is one of the team’s leaders, with 31 goals and 26 assists this season, according to the Minnesota State High School League. Sophomore Bella Shipley has chipped in with 14 goals and 34 assists.

The winner between Maple Grove and Gentry Academy will face the winner of the quarterfinal between Brainerd and Andover. Class AA semifinal games are scheduled to be played Friday night.
