Maple Grove To Host Open Houses On Highway 610 Extension Project
The project is the final portion of a larger initiative to connect Interstate 94, County Road 30 and Highway 610.

MAPLE GROVE, MN — Maple Grove and Minnesota transportation officials are set to host three virtual open houses Wednesday for residents to learn more about a project to finish connecting several major highways in the area.
Virtual sessions are scheduled to start at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, with officials to present a general overview of the project before answering attendees’ questions at each session.

Residents can view preliminary designs and offer their feedback on the plans during each virtual session, officials said.
The project, known as the 610 Extension Project, is the final portion of a larger project to connect Interstate 94, County Road 30 and Highway 610.

The plans include a four-lane highway between I-94 and County Road 30, a connection across the interstate to Highway 610, and ramps to I-94 East and from I-94 West to the 610 extension, according to officials.

Officials have secured $31 million in funding from federal, state and city sources, but Maple Grove could lose out on a $7 million federal grant if the money is not used by 2023, the Star Tribune reports.
A bill to provide $22 million for the project is being considered in the Minnesota Legislature, while Maple Grove is expected to seek a federal grant of up to $25 million to help fund the project, the report states.
