MN Family Loses 3-Year-Old Boy To Pit Bull Attack

The boy attacked by two pit bulls in Brooklyn Park will not survive and his organs are being donated, according to an update on GoFundMe.

BROOKLYN PARK, MN — The 3-year-old boy who was attacked by two pit bulls in Brooklyn Park last week will not survive, according to an update on GoFundMe.

Covil Allen's organs are in the process of being donated to "save more children's lives in hopes that no other parent has to endure the pain that they are experiencing right now," a friend wrote in an update on the Allen family GoFundMe.

Covil's mother, Tasha, was also attacked and underwent two surgeries and will need one more.

So far, more than $23,000 has been raised on GoFundMe of the $35,000 goal.

At about 12:45 p.m., Brooklyn Park officers responded to the attack at the 7500 block of Brooklyn Park Drive North.

At the scene, officers found two pit bulls attacking Covil. Officers fired their weapons, striking both dogs, killing one and injuring the other.

Officers rescued Covil and treated him before he was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The injured dog was secured and transported to a nearby animal care facility, authorities said.

Detectives were called to the scene and an investigation is underway.

Days after Friday's attack, another child was attacked by a dog in Brooklyn Park.
