MAPLE GROVE, MN — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

How do you know the star local student?

My daughter.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

She has independently raised thousands of dollars in donations in drives for women, babies, and children in need.

She absolutely adores other people and is a servant to her community with thousands of volunteer hours.

Aspen was even awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service award last year by Mayor Paul Knier for her exemplary service.

All of this, while learning to manage a virtually unknown disability called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome temporarily rendered her incapable to walk or attend school when she was 15 and continues to present challenges for her at 17.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Aspen is the most driven young woman I have ever met. She is unstoppable once she gets her sights set on a goal.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Aspen!
