Park Valley Young Agency & TB1 Fund Awarded $10,000
Community Support Helped Double Donation by Voting Online

Park Valley Young Agency has officially awarded a $10,000 donation to TB1 Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing comfort, joy, and relief to children undergoing cancer treatment and their families. The funds will help TB1 Fund expand its impact by offering even more meaningful experiences to families navigating pediatric cancer.
Initially, Park Valley Young Agency received a $5,000 donation through the Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® 2025 Make More Happen™ Awards program for its partnership with TB1 Fund. After their story was featured on the Make More Happen microsite at www.agentgiving.com/park-valley-young-agency/, the community rallied with over 500 votes and comments—triggering a matching donation and bringing the total to $10,000.
“When we first heard Braxton Battaglia’s story, we knew we had to help,” said Mike Docter, Agency Principal, Park Valley Young Agency. “Braxton’s strength inspired the TB1 Fund, and her vision of bringing happiness to kids during treatment truly moved us. It’s a cause close to our hearts, and we’re proud to be part of the journey.”

Braxton Battaglia, a young leukemia patient diagnosed in 2019, inspired her family to launch the TB1 Fund—an initiative that provides “day brighteners” for children undergoing treatment at M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. These include family-centered amenities, events, and memorable moments that bring light during difficult times.
Since its founding, Park Valley Young Agency has been a Bronze-level corporate sponsor, donating thousands of dollars annually and volunteering at events like “Putt for Patients,” the TB1 Fund’s summer miniature golf fundraiser. The agency also sends families to special outings like the annual local Kentucky Derby party, furthering the TB1 mission of joyful distraction and compassionate care.

A $10,000 Make More Happen Award will enable the TB1 Fund to expand family programming at University of Minnesota and Children’s Hospitals, creating more no-cost events that brighten the lives of kids in treatment and their loved ones.
“Recognizing independent agents’ dedication to their communities and nonprofit partners is what the Make More Happen Awards are all about,” said Daniel Sonkowsky, Senior Territory Manager, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance. “Park Valley Young Agency’s compassion and generosity reflect the best of what local agencies can do when they lead with purpose.”
Throughout 2025, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications showcasing their commitment to a specific cause.
