Update: Great Southern Bank Building Plan Receives Maple Grove City Council Approval

A new bank building will soon become part of The Fountains at Arbor Lakes.

The Maple Grove City Council approved a PUD Concept Amendment and Development Stage Plan for Great Southern Bank at its Feb. 19 meeting.

The approval resolution is anticipated to be approved at the next City Council meeting.

Construction on a new building for Great Southern Bank in Maple Grove could happen 2013.

A request for a PUD concept amendment and development stage plan passed through the Maple Grove Planning Commission Feb. 11. The request now heads to Maple Grove City Council.

If approved, Great Southern Bank plans on constructing a 6,172 square foot building at The Fountains at Arbor Lakes behind Office Max and PetSmart. The bank would sit at the corner of Zachary Lane and Elm Creek Boulevard.

The concept plan originally showed a drug store on the site, according to planning commission documents, which is why an amendment request was filed.

Highlights of the project include:

• Three drive-thru lanes plus an additional ATM lane

• 35 parking stalls

• One story structure, wood frames with stone and brick veneer

• Existing leased Great Southern Bank location on 80th Circle in Maple Grove would relocate the new building.

Construction could begin in spring 2013, if approvals are received. Open could be in early October.
