Westbound I-694 To Close This Weekend In Twin Cities

The closure begins on Friday night and will affect several cities in the northern metro area.

ROSEVILLE, MN — The westbound lanes of Interstate 694 will close this weekend between I-35W in New Brighton and Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The full closure begins at 10 p.m. Friday, July 11, and will last through 5 a.m. Monday, July 14. Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, all entrance and exit ramps to westbound I-694 within the closure area will also shut down, and there will be no access from nearby cross streets.

  • Inspect and repair bridge decks
  • Repair and restripe pavement
  • Clean and repair storm sewer drainage systems
  • Remove vegetation
  • Repair and replace lighting
  • Remove graffiti from bridges and walls

Drivers will be detoured using I-694, Highway 10, Highway 610 and Highway 169 during the closure.

MnDOT noted a similar full closure is scheduled for the same stretch of eastbound I-694 in early August.
