MINNEAPOLIS — Believe it or not, Election Day is hours away in Minnesota. Starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Minnesotans will cast ballots to decide which candidates represent them in federal, state, and local government.

Minnesota has same-day registration, which means you can register to vote at your polling location on Election Day. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Republicans have not won a statewide race in Minnesota since 2006, but there's a good chance that an expected "red wave" Tuesday brings an end to that streak.
A recent KSTP/SurveyUSA poll finds that Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison's Republican opponent, Jim Schultz, leads him by 49 percent to 42 percent. Another 9 percent of voters remain undecided, the poll finds.
Julie Blaha is also behind her Republican opponent, Ryan Wilson, in recent polls.
