Storms Could Bring Damaging Winds, Heavy Rain To Twin Cities Thursday And Friday

The National Weather Service says a few stronger storms may hit the metro, with damaging winds and downpours possible.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Thunderstorms will move through the Twin Cities area Thursday and Friday, and while the overall risk for severe weather is low, a few stronger storms could bring damaging wind gusts, hail, and heavy rain.

Scattered storms are expected to develop Thursday afternoon and evening, especially across southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook. Some of these storms may produce isolated wind damage or brief downpours.

The unsettled pattern continues Friday, with additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms possible. Forecasters say the severe risk remains low, but stronger storms could again bring gusty winds, hail, and heavy rainfall to parts of the metro.
