Updated: Car Drives Through Window at Dorothy Ann Bakery in Woodbury

No one was injured in the Saturday morning incident.

A motorist on Saturday morning drove through the glass windows at Dorothy Ann Bakery and Café.

“Foot slipped,” said Woodbury Police Sgt. Sue McMahon.

At about 11:30 a.m. the driver went up and over a curb and into the wall and window, McMahon said.

The male driver and his wife were in the car at the time. They are from the Cottage Grove area, McMahon said.

There were no signs of impairment in the driver, she said, and while such incidents are sporadic, they do happen from time to time.

“Just an unfortunate accident,” McMahon said. “We were so grateful nobody was hurt.”

There was some damage to the building that will need to be repaired, she said.

The driver was “shaken up but OK,” McMahon said the afternoon of Saturday, March 16.

CBS reports that an event was happening at the time and there were 50 people in the bakery when the car came crashing through the windows.

“The blinds were drawn to keep the sunlight off of the cakes; you know it gets a little warm when the sun comes in. We didn’t see it coming, and all of a sudden the windows burst open and the cakes went flying,” owner Steve Conway told WCCO. “And we all kind of screamed and were startled, and thank goodness nobody was hurt.”
