Carver Lake Closed Until Further Notice: Here's Why
Blue-green algae can produce toxins that can make people and animals sick.
WOODBURY, MN — Carver Lake and its beach are closed until further notice due to blue-green algae being found Tuesday, the city of Woodbury said.
Blue-green algae blooms can produce toxins, but it is difficult to predict if/when the bloom will produce toxins, the city said. City officials said that due to the inability to predict if/when a bloom will produce toxins, it is best to stay out of the water.
You should seek immediate medical attention if you believe you or your pets are experiencing health effects related to the algae, the city said.
