• County Board approves five year Capital Improvement Plan (cottagegrovejournal.news) — Washington County has approved its 2026 budget and a five-year capital plan that will shape taxes, roads, parks, and services for Woodbury residents, including safety and pavement work on County Highway 16. The levy will rise 6.95%, with most capital dollars going to roads and bridges, plus continued funding for homelessness prevention, septic and well loans, and invasive species control.

• $100,000 Christmas Eve Powerball ticket sold in Twin Cities (cbsnews.com) — A Powerball ticket sold at Jerry’s Food in Woodbury matched four numbers plus the Power Play on Christmas Eve, netting one Twin Cities player a $100,000 prize. While the $1.817 billion jackpot went to Arkansas, Minnesota Lottery officials say hundreds of thousands of smaller winning tickets were sold statewide and remind residents about resources for responsible gambling.
