FBI warns Kansas City shoppers: Holiday scams surge with AI technology (kctv5.com) — Kansas City shoppers are being warned by the FBI that scammers are increasingly using artificial intelligence to power holiday-season frauds, from fake profiles to deepfake videos. With billions already lost nationwide, agents urge residents to slow down, verify deals and communications, and report any suspected scams, even if no money is lost, to help protect others.
   

2. KCFD deploys robot to help battle fire at lumber yard (fox4kc.com) — Kansas City firefighters used a $350,000 remote-controlled robot to safely knock down a massive lumber-yard fire near E. 14th Terrace and Norton Avenue, saving crews from dangerous, muddy conditions. The robot can flow up to about 1,200 gallons of water per minute in real-world use, helping control the blaze within hours and keeping firefighters available for other city emergencies.
   

3. Pedestrian critically injured when hit by SUV Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri (kshb.com) — A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit and run over by a Buick SUV Tuesday afternoon at Northeast Pleasant Valley Road and North Brighton Avenue in Kansas City. Police say the driver stopped, and investigators are asking anyone with information to share anonymous tips through Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers.
   

4. Whooping cough case confirmed at Blue Springs High School (fox4kc.com) — A confirmed case of whooping cough at Blue Springs High School in the Kansas City area has prompted school leaders to warn families about symptoms and prevention. Parents are urged to keep sick students home, follow doctor guidance, and reinforce masking, cough etiquette, and handwashing as health officials monitor for additional cases.
   

5. City of Independence lifts boil advisory, no problems found during testing 16 samples (kshb.com) — Independence water customers in the Kansas City metro no longer need to boil their water after tests at 16 sites showed no problems in the system. City officials say pressure has been restored, water is again coming from the Courtney Bend plant, and nearby municipalities are receiving normal service.
