Here are the top three stories today in Bozeman:

  1. An art installation called “Revitalise Relatives” has been installed on the pedestrian bridge over Bozeman Creek. The work, which features two see-through glass panels, depicts a map of the Gallatin watershed and bison overlaid on images of water and mountains. The artists hope it will prompt people to care more for local waterways and lead to greater support for revitalization projects affecting Bozeman Creek. (Subscription: Bozeman Daily Chronicle)
  2. Gov. Greg Gianforte has signed into law Senate Bill 111, which designates a three-mile stretch on Highway 86 as the Jacob Allmendinger Memorial Highway. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Carl Glimm, R-Kila, honors the fallen Gallatin County sheriff's deputy who died in October 2019 while responding to a call. Deputy Allmendinger became trapped under his car, which slid down a hill, and the legislation aims to recognize his sacrifice and service. (Montana Right Now)
  3. Alexandria Montenegro, a senior majoring in psychology and a member of the Honors College at Montana State University, has been named this year’s Exceptional Psychology Student by the Department of Psychology and selected as the letters student for the 2023 Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in the College of Letters and Science. Montenegro has been a research assistant in the Sleep and Development Lab for the past two years, where she conducted an independent investigation of associations between living at higher altitudes with sleep quality and mental health.
