  1. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) declared that the North 19th Street Rest Area in Bozeman will permanently shut down today, May 1, due to the continuous deterioration and maintenance issues of the facility. The rest area was a popular stop for travelers, offering restrooms, vending machines, picnic tables, and scenic views of the Bridger Mountains. Motorists can visit the MDT website or download the MDT 511 mobile app to stay updated on road conditions, weather, and other factors that may affect travel. (KBZK News)
  2. Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport will offer nonstop flights to Hollywood-Burbank Airport in Los Angeles starting June 28. The flight will be twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays on Avelo Airlines. The new route will offer a comparable experience to flying in and out of Bozeman, with Burbank's smaller terminal. Southern California is the second most popular travel destination out of the Bozeman airport. (Bozeman Daily Chronicle)
  3. Around 30 volunteers gathered over the weekend to plant trees at the Bozeman Softball Complex in an effort to manage runoff into the East Gallatin River and provide shade. The city of Bozeman and the Gallatin Watershed Council teamed up to plant ten trees next to a ditch that runs perpendicularly through the area, and another ten along Highland Boulevard. The forestry division will water each tree weekly with about 20 gallons between now and September and will do the same thing next year. (Bozeman Daily Chronicle)
