Here are the top three stories in Bozeman today:
- The Bozeman School District is planning a $6 million capital improvement plan with each school receiving anywhere from $250,000 to $400,000 in upgrades. The focus of the improvements is to ensure that the schools are functioning well and operating safely and productively, with a focus on mechanical upgrades, including replacing boilers, air handler fans, pumps, and other equipment. The improvements aim to update the schools, some of which are over 50 years old, and ensure that they are maintained and functioning well for years to come. (NBC Montana)
- Patients at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital are struggling with the parking situation as they are required to walk long distances through snow and ice to get to the hospital, which is inconvenient for those with disabilities. Some have to cut their losses and park in the furthest lot available. The hospital is exploring options to improve the parking situation, such as the construction of parking garages or designating RV parking sites. (KBZK News)
- Bozeman's City Commission provisionally approved a resolution to enact fireworks restrictions in the city during a meeting on Tuesday, Apr. 18. The new ordinance prohibits the sale and discharge of fireworks within city limits due to the increased risk of fires and loud noises. However, an amendment was approved to allow the use of short hand-held sparklers, and the ordinance will be up for final approval at a future city meeting. (NBC Montana)
