Here are the top three stories today in Bozeman:

  1. The Bozeman Police Department has reported an increased number of high-risk and high-emotional calls. According to police, many of the calls involve a weapon and pose a threat to officers or others. Reports indicate that in the last five weeks, the joint city and county response team was called in six times, and three of those calls were within city limits. Recently, a shooting happened involving an officer that resulted in the unfortunate death of the man with the gun. The police attribute the rise of violence and calls to the growing city population. (NBC Montana)
  2. Anyone who picked up free ice cream distributed by Venture Church last week should throw it away. According to health officials, the ice cream that was given away may be contaminated. The health department of Gallatin County reported that the ice cream was involved in a truck wreck and it was not inspected or approved for consumption before it was given away. (NBC Montana)
  3. Construction is officially underway for Summit Aviation, the training provider for Gallatin College and Montana State University's aviation program. The building housing the program is being built at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. Over the next few years, residents can expect to see other building projects at the airport, including a $170-million terminal project, according to Brian Sprenger, president and CEO of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. The Summit Aviation facility will house an office space, simulation lab, hangar space, and more. It's estimated to be open in January 2024. (KBZK News)

  • Beginning in January 2024, Tiktok will be banned from being listed on any mobile application stores within the state of Montana. The bill was proposed due to concerns about data and privacy, dangerous viral trends, and the negative effects of social media. Though there is no penalty in the bill for Tiktok users, entities that facilitate the downloading of the app will be fined $10,000 for each violation. (yourbigsky.com)
