Here are the top three stories today in Bozeman:
- A man was shot dead by Bozeman police officers after he brandished a firearm in a shooting incident. The officers responded to a disturbance call, and upon arriving, the man left the area in his vehicle, relocating to Greenmore Court. The incident resulted in the death of the man, with no officers being injured, and an investigation by Montana Division of Criminal Investigation is ongoing with the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office's help. - Nonprofit organizations in Bozeman spoke out against Senate Bill 99, which would restrict transgender youth in Montana from receiving gender-affirming health care. The bill has been passed by the Montana State Legislature and is now awaiting Gov. Greg Gianforte's signature to become law. Bridgercare, a nonprofit that provides gender-affirming health care to transgender adults, reported unprecedented opposition to the bill from medical providers and expressed concern that youth would not receive the care they need and that their risk of suicide would increase. - The Museum of the Rockies is hosting the annual "Dinosaurs and MOR!" family-friendly event on Apr. 15, which includes free activities such as paleo-passport activities, interacting with fossil preparators, and admission to the Dinosaur Prophesy show. Visitors can also explore the museum's vast collection of North American dinosaurs, including the famous T-rex, and attend lectures from world-class paleontologists for an additional fee. Additionally, visitors can take paleo-art lessons with Ted Rechlin or the museum education team for a fee and bid on paleontology-themed collectibles during the presentations. (KBZK News)
