Here are the top three stories today in Bozeman:
- Bozeman and Montana State University (MSU) announced the groundbreaking of a new fire station that will replace the current one located on South 19th Avenue. The new facility, to be built on 1.1 acres of land leased by MSU to the city, is expected to be completed in 2024 and will reduce response times for campus calls and improve coverage at the Bobcat Stadium and campus events. The project is being funded by a $6.7 million bond approved by Bozeman voters in 2021. (NBC Montana)
- Bozeman, Livingston, and Belgrade are all planning to build recreational centers with respective costs of $95 million, $18 million, and $50 million. Bozeman's community center will consist of a recreation center, aquatic center, and library with a potential location that is yet to be decided. Although many people are excited about the project, they are also concerned about its high cost, and city officials plan to respect public input and deliver a project with as much value as possible. (KBZK News)
- Bozeman's Historic Preservation Advisory Board will hold events in May celebrating the city's history and preservation program. The events will include lectures, tours, and awards dedicated to the city's history. Until May 1, nominations are open for Historic Preservation and Legacy Awards in various categories, with award winners to be honored at a ceremony on May 31 at the Bozeman Event Space. (NBC Montana)
