2 Dead, 6 Injured In Stabbings Along Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS, NV — An attacker with a large kitchen knife killed two people and wounded six others in stabbings along the Las Vegas Strip before he was arrested Thursday, police said via the Associated Press.
Las Vegas residents Brent Allan Hallett, 47, and Maris Mareen Digiovanni, 30, are the two deceased, the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner told Patch.
The attacker has been identified as 32-year-old Yoni Barrios, according to a tweet by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and six counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, the department added in the post.

A total of eight victims were found, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department revealed in a statement, adding that one of the victims died on the scene, and another passed away at University Medical Center. Other victims, three of whom are in critical condition, were transported to area hospitals, according to the statement.
Police initially shared in a tweet that the incident took place just after 11:40 a.m. in front of a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.

Barrios’ motive is currently unknown, authorities said.
