- The WNBA has launched an investigation into the Las Vegas Aces over allegations of violating the league's salary cap rules. Reports suggest the team offered covert compensation to players and prospective signings, a claim which has been confirmed by a knowledgeable source. The league is also addressing complaints raised by player Dearica Hamby regarding discrimination she faced during her pregnancy and concerns over her role in the upcoming season. (News 3 LV)
- A former actor in the film "Dances With Wolves," Nathan Chasing Horse, has been accused of sexually abusing Indigenous women and girls for decades and is being held in custody by Nevada prosecutors. The prosecution claims that Chasing Horse was "grooming young children" to replace his older wives and is a danger to the community. Bail has been set at $300,000 and he is charged with eight felonies including sex trafficking, sexual assault, and child abuse. Chasing Horse, who played Smiles a Lot in the Oscar-winning film, is the leader of a cult known as The Circle, and police say he used his position to physically and sexually assault women and girls. (Local 10)
- The Nevada State Patrol (NSP) is undergoing intensive training in order to be prepared for the dangers they may face on the road. With 853 wrong-way drivers on the highways last year, the only thing standing between the drivers and danger is the NSP. The training, which is taking place at Spring Mountain Motor Resort, is designed to hone the driving skills of the NSP cadets and is a requirement for graduation. The NSP is currently facing a 32 percent vacancy rate, but the rigorous training and high standards set for the cadets ensures that the public is protected. (News 3 LV)
