Fast Acting Teen Evacuates Family Of 8 From Las Vegas Fire
The fire was confined to the family's garage, and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire shortly upon arrival.

LAS VEGAS, NV - A fast thinking teenager may have saved the rest of his family after an early morning house fire on Friday. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to a call at 3:17 a.m. on Rio De Janeiro Dr where smoke was coming out of the garage of a two-story home.
According to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Public Information Officer Tim Szymanski, a teenager awoke to the smell of smoke coming from inside the home. While the rest of his family was asleep (five adults and two other children) he walked around the home to find the fire. When he opened the door to the garage he found it filled with smoke and told the rest of his family. All eight family members evacuated the home without injury.
The fire was ruled an accident and may been electrical. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire "in a couple of minutes," Szymanski said. The garage sustained smoke damage, but the rest of the home had only "very light smoke odor," inside. The estimated damage of the fire is $10,000.
