Las Vegas Man Arrested After Threatening Burger King He Worked At

LAS VEGAS, NV - A Las Vegas man is in custody after threatening to "shoot up" a Burger King where he was a former employee, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said. The incident occurred Tuesday, Jan. 16 on the 6600 block of W. Cheyenne Ave.

Steven Ramirez is alleged to have entered his former place of work while making threats with a gun and a machete. He is being held in Clark County Detention Center on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a concealed machete, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, court documents show.

Metro police responded to the call at 8:24 p.m. on Jan. 16. "It was reported to us there was a former employee in the lobby threatening to shoot the place up," said LVMPD public information officer Larry Hadfield. Hadfield said that police then asked the manager to safely evacuate the employees before confronting Ramirez.

"When we arrived we quickly assembled a team and made the decision to go in an confront the subject," Hadfield said. When police did confront Ramirez, he complied and was arrested without incident. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Ramirez is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 a.m.
