Kihuen Joins Caucus Co-Chairs To Bring World Cup To North America
A resolution supporting a bid to bring the 2026 FIFA World Cup to North America was supported by Nevada Rep. Ruben Kihuen.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Nevada 4th Congressional District Rep. Ruben Kihuen has joined the Congressional Soccer Caucus in introducing a resolution aimed at bringing the 2026 FIFA World Cup to North America. The resolution supports a bid to host soccer's ultimate tournament across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With Kihuen, Reps. Darin Lahood (IL-18), Kathy Castor (FL-14), and Don Bacon (NE-02) are the co-chairs of the caucus.
“Hosting the 2026 World Cup would be an amazing opportunity for the United States, Mexico, and Canada to showcase the unique and beautiful cultures that North America offers on a world stage," Kihuen said. "Having played soccer and been a fan all of my life, this is an incredible time for the sport and for the potential benefit a World Cup could have on U.S. cities. In Las Vegas a new team, the Las Vegas Lights, has already generated tremendous excitement and expanded economic opportunity."
