Las Vegas Councilman Barlow Resigns After Misusing Campaign Funds
Ward 5 representative Ricki Barlow resigned on Monday after admitting to misusing funds from his 2015 reelection campaign.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Barlow resigned on Monday, admitting that he converted funds from his 2015 reelection campaign to his own. Barlow, who served Ward 5 since 2007, will plead guilty to a felony charge related to the matter, he said at a press conference on Monday at Las Vegas City Hall.
"I am deeply ashamed of my conduct," Barlow said. "That shame is as dark and abiding for me as my gladness for my city council service is bright and enduring."
Barlow was first elected to Ward 5 in 2007 and won reelection in 2015 after defeating Randy Voyard with more than 68 percent of the vote.

"Since being sworn in on June 27th, 2007 to represent Ward 5, it has been from a deeply felt honor and privilege to serve my neighbors and our city," Barlow said. "I am grateful for and proud of the good that has resulted form my hard work on the Las Vegas City Council."
Barlow read his resignation from a prepared statement and didn't answer questions from reporters afterward.

"I accept full personally responsibly for my conduct violating the federal criminal law," Barlow said. "I am resolved to face the painful consequences of that conduct in a way and with a spirit that will best compensate for my wrongdoing and will best help me become a better man. My hope in resigning effective today is to avoid the greatest extent possible any adverse consequences to my beloved city of Las Vegas, to my family, and to the city council and to my neighbors and constituents of Ward 5."
