Las Vegas Woman Arrested For Setting "Classic" Ford Bronco Ablaze

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson investigators didn't have to look far to find the suspect in a Tuesday morning vehicle fire Downtown.

LAS VEGAS, NV - A 44-year old homeless women is now being held in Clark County Detention Center after allegedly pouring gasoline on a car and setting it on fire Tuesday morning near Las Vegas Fire & Rescue headquarters in Downtown Las Vegas.

Barbara Gooden first tried to start a vehicle fire at Zappo's headquarters but was stopped by a security guard who called the police, according to a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue release. She continued to walk down 4th street before pouring gasoline on a 1972 Ford Bronco that was parked on the sidewalk. The vehicle, valued at $20,000, was completely destroyed.

"The car was refurbished, a classic vehicle, a collector's item," said Las Vegas Fire & Rescue public information officer Tim Szymanski.

Gooden did not say why she started the fire, Szymanski said. No injuries were reported.

According to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Gooden was "witnessed by several people" starting the fire and was arrested by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson investigators nearby.

She is facing one count of third degree arson for the lighting the Ford Bronco on fire and one count of fourth degree arson for trying to start a fire at Zappo's headquarters. She will appear in court Thursday at 7:30 a.m.
