Las Vegas Parents Facing Murder Charge After Infant Child Dies
Two people have been arrested after their five-month old child died from alleged malnourishment, police said.
LAS VEGAS, NV - Two people are being held on murder charges after their child died from alleged malnourishment, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said.
Anthony Oceja, 29, and Loreana Martinez, 24, were arrested on Wednesday following an LVMPD investigation into the death of their child. Officers initially responded to a call from Sunrise Hospital on Sunday after medical personnel advised Metro police they were taking a five month old baby who had apparently been malnourished to the hospital. The infant died at the hospital.
A police investigation confirmed the child was "severely malnourished." and the pair were arrested and booked into Clark County Detention Center.

Two other children at the couple's residence were "taken into private custody," and are being looked at for "potential health concerns," police said. Along with the two children, three dogs that also appeared to be malnourished were turned over to Clark County Animal Control.
Oceja and Martinez are scheduled to appear in court on March 5. They are both facing charges of murder, child abuse/neglect, and three counts of willful or malicious maiming, torturing, or killing a cat, dog, or animal.
