Las Vegas Shooting: Police Will Argue Friday To Keep Docs Sealed
Lawyers for LVMPD will explain to Judge Cadish why unsealing search warrant documents could compromise the ongoing investigation, on Friday.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Las Vegas District Court Judge Elissa Cadish has ordered an in-camera sealed hearing with lawyers representing the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to discuss law enforcement's claim that unsealing search warrant documents related to the Oct. 1 shooting would compromise the current investigation. The Friday, Jan. 26 hearing will closed to the public.
"The hearing will be recorded, but sealed, in order to protect public safety and the ongoing law enforcement investigation," the minute order reads.
During the initial Jan. 16 hearing for the lawsuit - brought against LVMPD by a number of media companies seeking access to search warrant records filed in the aftermath of the shooting - LVMPD lawyers argued that making unsealing the records could jeopardize an ongoing investigation that could result in charges being brought against a currently unidentified individual. They requested a closed hearing to elaborate on those reasons. Cadish told them to prepare their explanation within a week, the Los Angeles Times reported.
